Excursion to the California Science Center, LA Space Shuttle Endeavor & Exhibition Thursday, January 23rd, all day.
$55 per person.


We will take a day trip to the Californa Science Center, LA, which recently became the permanent home of the Space Shuttle Endeavor. This is the crowning jewel of an already extensive exhibition on human space flight and science, spanning the Mercury and Apollo missions through to the present day. Endeavor is the centerpiece of a growing exhibition focusing on the Shuttle, its missions and mission control. Our tour will include the Endeavor exhibition, IMAX file and full access to the Science Center galleries. The Center has a number of places to purchase lunch. After the museum we will visit Olvera Street, the historic center of Los Angeles and one of the best places in Calfornia for authentic Mexican food with a great atmosphere. You will have time to enjoy a walking tour and have dinner at any one of the restaurants there.

We appreciate that some people may wish to be dropped off in LA (with luggage) in order to meet onward travel connections.
The CSC is around 15miles from LAX, and easily reachable by taxi.
Please email the LOC as soon as possible if you would like to take your luggage with you on the bus so that we can ensure there is enough space.

The Canary Hotel has an excellent rooftop pool and bar with beautiful evening views over downtown and the mountains -- a great place to welcome you to Santa Barbara and enjoy light refreshments. You will also have the opportunity to register for the meeting.

We invite you to join us for a party at the Observatory headquarters! You will be able to tour our rapidly developing on-site facilities in between enjoying a variety of cuisines from a number of food and beverage stations, including vegetarian options.
