Network status: Spectral camera woes

Apr 26, 2016

The Spectral cameras on both of our 2-meter telescopes, in Australia and Hawaii, are currently out-of-service.
In Australia, the Spectral camera (fs01) hasn't been available since April 6, when it warmed-up. The cause has been traced to a failed bearing in the cooling system. In Hawaii, the Spectral camera (fs02) hasn't been available since April 20, when the shutter failed to open. A replacement shutter is currently being fixed-up, and when it's ready, it will be swapped for the failed shutter.

The FLOYDS spectrometers on the 2-meter telescopes are still operational.
