Rachel Ross and Kurt Vander Horst from LCOGT and Kate McCurdy and Dennis Nord from Sedgwick were joined by the group in the early evening and enjoyed cold drinks with a fruit and cheese platter followed by a walk around the property. A delicious dinner was then provided by Omni Fresco Catering. After dinner, we headed up to the observatory and were greeted by coffee, tea, and cookies while waiting for the sky to get dark enough to begin seeing stars and begin a sky tour.
Unfortunately, the BOS was experiencing some technical difficulties, but were still able to observe a few objects in between, including M13, M11, M8, M51, and supernova PTF 11kly in M101. We tried to image the supernova for team working on it, but a brief issue between the CCD and telescope was resolved just as it traveled too low in the sky. The AP 178 was working great and jumping around many different targets.
The sky was clear and dark, the Milky Way was bright, and even with the slow start of BOS, everyone seemed to have a great time!
