LCO Wins Major NSF Grant for the Expansion of Astronomical Network
This project will involve middle grade students in two schools in North Carolina. With support from their instructor and a science professional, the students will plan observation campaigns to observe three exoplanet transits using the LCO telescopes. Their learning goal is understanding the predictable motion of objects using orbital models as well as science-as-inquiry approach where a predicted exoplanet transit time from published ephemeris tables can be tested and possibly refined by student observations. We are requesting 3 hours of telescope observation time on 0.4m SBIG telescopes.
