LCO Wins Major NSF Grant for the Expansion of Astronomical Network
This Sonoma State University program brings astronomy research opportunities to teens and young adults from across the nation in virtual out-of-school settings. Participants work with a mentor to conduct research. Research focuses on photometry, specifically creating and analyzing lightcurves from variable stars, eclipsing binaries, stellar systems with exoplanets, and gamma ray burst follow-up optical observations. Working with advanced amateurs, such as AAVSO members, as well as NASA and other subject matter experts, participants build professional networks.
